Hi, I'm Katie. A designer, mother, and the artist behind Evelyn and Co Portraits. With 12 years of work as a graphic designer its taught me how to compose an image so it actually belongs on your wall, not just your camera roll. Now I bring that same skill to families across Kansas City, Overland Park, and Lawrence — guiding you through hair and makeup, styling, and a session that feels less like a photoshoot and more like being taken care of. The first step is the planning call. Before we ever pick up a camera, we talk. This call is where I get to know you — your family's personality, what this session is really for, and how you picture these images living in your home.
Send me a few photos of your walls, and we'll start dreaming up where your artwork might hang. From there, we'll map out styling, location, and hair and makeup — so every detail is decided before you ever have to think about it again.
Step one
The moment we've been preparing for has arrived! There's no clock running here — no rushing, no watching the time. My only goal is to help you feel so comfortable that you forget you're even being photographed. Whether we're in the studio or at one of my pre-scouted locations, I'll guide you through every moment, so you never feel awkward or unsure of what to do with your hands.
What I'm really after is real connection — the way you actually look at each other — because that's when you'll see just how beautiful your family truly is. Most families leave saying the same thing: that was so easy, and so much fun.
Step two
Once your images are ready, we'll meet again at the studio — and this is where it all becomes real. You'll watch your gallery unfold in a slideshow (keep the tissues close), and together we'll choose your favorites. Then, using everything we talked through during your planning call — your walls, your home, your style — I'll help you design artwork that actually fits your space, not just your screen.
From there, you can also add albums, additional prints for the rest of your home, or digital files for holiday cards, announcements, and sharing. This is the moment your family goes from photographed to preserved.
Step three
Once your order is delivered to the studio, our team of white-glove professionals will come back to your house to install the images that we intentionally designed together. After this, I’m pretty sure we’ll be starting back at square one so that we can do it all over again for the next shoot
