If we were sitting together over a cup of coffee (mine’s probably lukewarm by now, thanks to mom life), I’d tell you this: I get it. The messy mornings, the endless snack requests, the feeling of being torn between the things that fill your cup and the ones that empty it. Motherhood is beautiful, exhausting, and deeply meaningful all at once. And somewhere in between, we’re all just trying to hold onto the moments that slip through our fingers a little too quickly.
My journey with photography began long before motherhood, back in high school when I joined the yearbook staff. That’s where I first fell in love with storytelling through a lens. I loved the way a single image could capture emotion, connection, and belonging. I followed that passion to college, majoring in graphic design at Pittsburg State University. This is where photography continued to tug at my heart.
After graduation, I worked in graphic design and photography in Overland Park, loving the creative process but quietly wondering what else was waiting for me. When my husband surprised me with a mirrorless camera in 2021. Truthfully I had just about sold all my gear and called it quits. I had just welcomed my first daughter, Evelyn, and motherhood had changed me in ways I couldn’t put into words. I almost gave up photography because I didn’t think I could balance being both a mom and a business owner.
She reminded me why I picked up a camera in the first place — to remember. To slow down. To see the beauty in everyday life. I wanted her to grow up knowing her mom could do hard things, chase her dreams, and still be present for the moments that matter most. And that’s how Evelyn & Co. Portraits was born. Named after the little girl who inspired me to create a life where passion and motherhood could coexist.
Today, I photograph motherhood in all its forms. From the quiet anticipation of maternity to the sweet chaos of family life. My goal is to create more than just beautiful images; I want to tell your story in a way that feels like you. The soft moments, the gentle connections, the tender in-betweens that make up your family’s story.
Here on the blog, you’ll find a little bit of everything that inspires my work. Including, motherhood stories, session tips, behind-the-scenes peeks, and connections with local Kansas City businesses that serve families just like yours. My hope is that it feels like a cozy corner where you can pause, breathe, and be reminded that you’re doing an incredible job, both in front of the camera and in your everyday life.
I can’t wait to hear your story and connect these beautiful moments into tangible memories. You can always reach out to me here! Or feel free to book your family portrait session here!
